Healing HeArts
Q: What do you get when you combine the experience of dynamic conversation, music, and the healing arts?
A: The Inaugural Healing HeArts Festival, a six-day event fostering personal and community wellbeing on the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene. The festival starts Saturday, Sept. 20 and runs through Thursday, Sept. 25 at the White Horse Black Mountain.
Q: What is the purpose of this festival for the community?
A: The Healing HeArts Festival is intended to bring community members together and support them in their individual and collective journeys of recovery from Helene. We provide this support in tangible ways by offering:
Healing arts presentations, panel discussions, and hands-on services to community members
A variety of food, music, arts and crafts managed by an outstanding team of volunteers
Q: What is the purpose of this festival for presenters, panelists, and healing artists?
A: We are deeply grateful for our presenters and panelists from area schools, organizations, and healing arts practitioners who are generously donating their time and talents. The festival’s intention for healing artists and organizations is to:
Create connections between all our presenters, panelists, practitioners
Further the conversation and integration of the healing arts in 2026
Generate attention and new members to the White Horse, so it continues to support local nonprofits and offer a wide range of musical experiences that are accessible to everyone

Q: What is the schedule for each day?
The festival will run each day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Each days begins with a 45-minute talk by one of six spiritual leaders from our community
Continue with a host of morning, lunch, and afternoon programs and activities, conversations, experiential exercises, and healing arts services

Q: Is there a connection between the Healing HeArts Festival and the Black Mountain Blues Festival?
A: Yes, the Healing HeArts Festival is meant to “set the stage” for the 2nd Annual Black Mountain Blues Festival.
The Blues Festival is a 3-day event featuring renowned musicians and education on the history and healing power of the blues.
The Blues Festival kicks off Friday, Sept 26 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 28 at several venues in downtown Black Mountain.
In keeping with the White Horse’s commitment to make music and events accessible to everyone, performances on the main stage at Town Square are offered for free.
The Blues Festival is organized and sponsored by the Black Mountain Blues Society in concert with the White Horse, which has been a hub for gathering, grounding, and serving the community since Helene.
