About the Event
This workshop is an opportunity to be with Courtney Smith and Sheri Kay, Directors at CCLD, as they share their unique experiences of loss that couldn’t be more different from each other. Courtney’s story of walking with her father through his last month highlights how intentional planning and conversations about choices created a sacred gift to those he was leaving behind. Sheri’s story will take you through her journey with her son who overdosed on his 34th birthday, and six days later, became an organ donor. In this incredibly traumatic space, Sheri’s heart knew that there were things she could do that would provide for her some level of grace and honor in the wake of his death and her own experiences of grief and loss.
The contrast of these two experiences challenges the idea that there is a “good death.” There is so much that we can’t control about death. In this workshop we will explore the elements that bring you comfort when those moments come - either expected or suddenly.
