About the Event

On Sunday, September 7th, from 3-6 pm, the Center for Conscious Living & Dying (CCLD) will host an art opening reception with live music and new artwork shown throughout our Sanctuary and the Light House, our education center. All art pieces will adorn the walls of CCLD with River Arts District (RAD) original work and will be for sale to anyone who falls in love with them.

This is a wonderful opportunity to support two great causes - RAD artists who experienced devastating losses after Hurricane Helene, and community-centered end-of-life care that CCLD provides at no cost to recipients. The artists are all donating a percentage of the sale of their works to CCLD, and those that don’t sell will adorn the hallways and rooms at the Center for all to enjoy. Please drop in for the opening reception to listen to music, share food and drink, and look at all the new art pieces displayed.

If you’d like to delve into art yourself or improve your skills, check out the three classes we are offering prior to the art opening reception: Plein Air Watercolor painting with Sandra Moore, Beginning Floral Collage with Li Newton, and Handbuilt Clay for Grief with CCLD volunteer and artist, Rhona Polonsky.

We will also have a live demonstration of painting on the back deck with Colton Dion. He will be painting the back view from the Sanctuary which will be raffled off throughout September. Workshops are scheduled from 1-3 pm and the opening reception begins at 4pm and will end at 6 pm on Sunday, September 7th, 2025. A HUGE Thanks to Shela Anmuth, another River Arts artist who has helped us secure artists to donate to our cause and participate in this art opening, two years in a row.

Admission to the show is $35, which is a donation to CCLD for end-of-life care. You can’t go wrong spending your Sunday enjoying the beauty of art, and the beauty of life lived with intention. At CCLD, we practice daily embracing death and supporting one another with loving presence. Come experience what our mission feels like.
