Clare Duplace

End-of-Life Doula

Clare Duplace has lived in and around Black Mountain for 20 years. She currently lives in Swannanoa, with her husband, two boys, a sweet pup named Rosie and a flock of chickens. Clare received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education form Warren Wilson College. After college and some traveling, she moved to Vermont for a couple of years. There she worked as a preschool teacher at a Waldorf school and a children’s librarian at a small library, that still stamped books. She also received her level 2 Reiki training and a level 1 course in Acupressure. After moving back to the Blue Ridge Mountains, she attended and graduated from a local herb school and also became a flower essence practitioner. She believes strongly in the healing powers of plants and flowers and makes flower essence for grief and for the cycles of the moon. Clare went on to train as a children’s yoga teacher through Black Mountain Yoga, a girls rite of passage training and was a teacher for 11 years at The Learning Community School. She believes in the importance of a holistic approach to wholeness and wellness. Clare has been on her own grief journey since the death of her mama in the fall of 2017. Since that time, she has been studying, diving deep into, networking, practicing and training in all things grief and death related. She is a part of the positive grief and death movement and is a trained full spectrum doula- birth, postpartum, loss, abortion and death. Clare is a grief consultant through The Institute for the Study of Birth, Breath, and Death and has been certified in numerous grief and death related trainings. She is currently receiving an MA in Mindfulness Studies from Lesley University, her thesis is on supporting children through grief and loss using mindfulness and other mindful modalities. Clare is also becoming a grief movement guide and grief educator. Clare is deeply honored to be a part of CCLD, shares the vision of shifting the paradigm and showing up for all involved in end of life care situations.
