About the Event

We warmly invite you to an evening of heartfelt reflection on our shared journey with death.

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Oakland’s Heart and Soul Center of Light and the Center for Conscious Living & Dying will host a screening of The Last Ecstatic Days—a tender and powerful documentary that follows the story of Ethan Sisser, a young man who faced his dying process with profound courage, grace, and vision.

Following the film, there will be an in-person conversation with Dr. Aditi Sethi, founder of the Center for Conscious Living & Dying in Swannanoa, NC and others who will offer their wisdom and experience. Aditi accompanied Ethan through his final days, and the experience reshaped her path from hospice physician to advocate for community-centered end-of-life care.

The evening will be enriched by live music offered by Roots Grown Deep—a world music trio featuring Joel Karabo Elliott, Jay Brown, and Aditi Sethi—whose sounds weave together reverence, celebration, and connection.

Entrance is by donation, suggested $20-50. Donations benefit Heart & Soul, CCLD & the musicians.
