About the Event

Join Artist-in-Residence Joel Karabo Elliott and SoulFire Sanctuary Curator, Mz. imani on this 54th Earth Day as we connect the fires, community members, and architectural sanctuaries of CCLD & the 18th Peace Chamber.

PLEASE CARPOOL as much as possible!

We will meet in mid-morning at the stunning, forest-full oasis of SoulFire Sanctuary (located up Buckeye Cove, Swannanoa) for fireside remembrance, songs, meditations, shared meal, testimonies and gratitudes. Let us sing songs in celebration of our glorious planetary home, listening for the responses from spirit, while envisioning and praying for the future of life on sweet Mother Earth. And let us break bread together! Bring your own food, or a home-made dish to share for pot-luck, so we can all enjoy one another's nourishment.

At around 2pm -- continuing in this mode of appreciation + gratitude -- we’ll move in our cars together in a slow procession down the mountain toward CCLD Sanctuary, as a community expression of ART in ACTion. Upon arrival at CCLD, we'll offer SoulFire coals to the newly-established social fire (and, if there is someone crossing over and the grief fire is lit, the coals will be offered there too), as we continue to share gratitudes and songs of celebration and tend the fire together.

The activities of the day conclude with the regular gathering of the CCLD Community Choir from 6:30-8:30pm.

Let's come together for a magical opportunity to slow down and experience the natural ecology of the mountains surrounding Swannanoa, as we weave blesSINGs between these potent heART-spaces that honor the eARTh mother on the 54th anniversary of eARTh Day. Our intention is to be personally transformed and to weave our communities as we pray for alignment with true Nature in our region.

Families & children are welcome!

Educator-parents, consider making this a field-trip / school eARTh day of natural learning. Kindly bring food for pot-luck nourishment.

Donations of generosity welcome: 100% of gifts shall be shared evenly between SoulFire and CCLD.

You are welcome to join us at any point throughout this day. We give thanks, A-li-he-li-ga, Siyabulela, Aho! May peace on earth prevail...
