EVENT DESCRIPTION

Have you heard? The nervous system is the new black.

Western science has a habit of disregarding the importance of that which it cannot see. And even though the human nervous system can actually be looked upon, its function is far more ephemeral than bones and organs. As the operating system for our entire body, there's not a piece of us that the nervous system isn't driving.

So when it comes to improving our overall wellbeing, working with the nervous system is imperative.

Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) is an innovative self-care practice that taps straight into the nervous system to release deep muscular tension, chronic stress, and many forms of trauma.

We'll begin with a history of the practice as well as gain a basic understanding of nervous system responses and how they impact everything we do. Together, we’ll then go through a series of exercises that activates your body’s natural mechanism for discharging excess tension which has accumulated over a life's worth of fight/flight/freeze responses.

Tremoring allows us to naturally shift into a healthy parasympathetic nervous system state, bringing about lower blood pressure and heart rate, slower respiration, and greater coherence between all systems of the body. Reclaiming this mechanism and the bio-intelligence of our tissues allows us to move beyond mere surviving into thriving.

This simple, yet profound practice is great for active individuals as a post-workout tool for releasing excess muscular tension, but has been used in over 60 countries for recovery from chronic stress and post-trauma symptoms due to life-in-general, accidents, natural disasters and political violence.

TRE is easy to learn and then execute on your own, so you'll leave this workshop empowered with a go-to method for stress relief.

Special Considerations and Needs:

We will be doing simple standing movements, light stretches, and laying on the floor for about 45 minutes of the workshop. These can be modified to suit your body's needs. If you have any concerns about if this practice is appropriate for you, please reach out to carrie.drapac@gmail.com
