Death Messengers Retreat

Come to Attakullah - the Cherokee word for Black Dome, also known as Mt. Mitchell-tallest peak east of the Mississippi, headwaters for the cleanest river in North Carolina, and a powerful teacher and inspirer of many Stories of Astonishment. Under its generous gaze, we will craft invitations that woo the alliance of the dark messengers and deepen our courage to enter the unfathomable beyond. Like root, seed, chrysalis and hibernating creature, we too will remember how to winter indulgently.

• Turn intentionally towards discomforting thoughts and experiences
• Understand why and how our culture intentionally turns us away from death, shadow work, grief, and other dark messengers
• Release habituated, death-denying patterns and engage in courting, death integrative behaviors
• Reflect on what messengers have come in one's life, who might yet be courted as guides
